AES Statement of Purpose
The purpose of the Australian Endurance Squad (AES) is to provide a pathway for Australian endurance riders and officials who aspire to represent their country in international competition.
The aim of the
AES
is to offer assistance, advice, education and financial support to its members, with the goal of producing an Australian Representative Team at World Equestrian Games and World Endurance Championships, which achieves excellent results and which represents the AERA and the sport of Australia to the highest possible standard.
Membership Information
Riders and Members
Membership is open to all current members who are full Divisional members of the AERA, on the proviso that:
1. Each riding member is a current
Endurance
rider and is not subject to any current disciplinary action or suspension.
2. Junior Riders must be 12 years of age or older in the year of application to the
AES
.
3. All members are subject to the same conditions as riders, ie. not subject to any current disciplinary action.
Horses
Horses nominated by
AES
members as
AES
horses must be of
Endurance
status (Yellow Log Book) and their owner / responsible person (RP) must not be subject to any current disciplinary action or suspension.
Fees
AES Members: An annual fee, as determined by the Board of Management (currently $60.50) is required for membership of the
AES
. The fee is payable on application. Riders who are un-financial for a period of 2 months or longer will automatically be removed from the
AES
Horses: An annual fee (currently $24.20) or as determined by the Board of Management applies to each horse nominated as an
AES
horse. Horses will be automatically removed if the fee is in arrears for more than 2 months.
ALL MEMBERSHIP FEES WILL BE FROM JANUARY 1 TO DECEMBER 31
Achievement Levels
Riders
LEVEL 1:
# Endurance Rider (ie Must have achieved endurance status)
Rider LEVEL 2:
The minimum standard required is:
# Complete 1 x 100km or greater ride
# Complete 2 x 160km rides, one of these rides must be a CEI 3* or national VGIH ride
# Open to riders from all divisions
Rider LEVEL 3:
The minimum standard required is:
# 2 x CEI 1* 100km or greater with a placing in the first 10 competitors to successfully complete, however this may not always be applied
# 1 x CEI 3* or greater with a preferred placing in the first 10 competitors to successfully complete
# Minimum riding weight of 73kgs and over
Rider LEVEL 4:
# 2 x 160km with one placing within 20% of the winners time
# Both rides must be CEI 3*
# Minimum riding weight to be 75kg and over
To Maintain Level 4 Status the rider must succeed at the following-
# 1 x CEI** or greater, placing within 20% of the winners time
# 1 x CEI*** 160km, placing within 20% of the winners time
# Minimum riding weight 3* must be of 75kgs, 2* may be 70kgs
# This to be achieved in a 24 month period, or the rider may have to return to Level 3 status.
Horse LEVEL 1:
# Endurance Horse (Must have achieved endurance status)
# All divisions accepted
Horse LEVEL 2:
# Must successfully complete 500kms as an Endurance horse, this to include -
a) 1 x 100km CEI 1* or greater
b) 1 x 160km, or in the case of YR's 120km 2*. 169km may be a national VGIH ride.
# Minimum weight carried 73kg
# No set timeframe
Horse LEVEL 3:
The minimum standard required is:
# 1 x 160km CEI 3* placing preferably within 20% of the winners time
# Minimum weight carried 73kg
Horses LEVEL 4:
The minimum standard required is:
# Minimum age 7 years
# 2 x 160km CEI 3* placing within 20% of the winners time
# Minimum weight carried 75kg
Horse and Rider Combination LEVEL 5:
Rider and horse, as a combination, has to complete -
# 2 x 160km CEI 3* rides, placing within 20% of the winners time
# Results achieved at L4, if done as a combination, will automatically count towards L5. This means that a horse/rider combination must successfully complete 2 x CEI 3* rides.
# Minimu weight carried 75kg
Terms of Membership
1. Only Squad Members and horses who are financial will be eligible for selection at World Championships and Word Equestrian Games.
2. Riders must be a financial Squad Member for a period of 12 months before they can be considered for selection.
3. Horses must be nominated and paid at least 6 months prior to being considered for selection.
4. Only Squad Members will be eligible to represent Australia at Continental Championships (Pan Am and Euro)
5. Squad Members must supply information to the Coach / Manager on request and on time.
6. All Logbook results including veterinary comments must be forwarded to the Coach / Manager within a week following any competition entered.
7. Squad Members will be required to sign a Code of Conduct and Agreement.
8. On acceptance to the Squad, members will be notified of their current achievement level, and will be provided with the requirements of all achievement levels.
9. It is the responsibility of the rider/owner/agent to keep the profiles of themselves and the horses current, omissions from performance records including non completions will be viewed a misrepresentation by the Manager
10. A complete profile suitable for media presentation, including photos, should accompany all applications.
